Help and Advice

At Geoffrey Leaver we understand that it is not just about getting compensation for the injuries you have suffered, but most importantly of all, receiving ongoing support and rehabilitation in order for you to get your life back on the right tracks.

That’s why we’re not only experts on legal matters, but we are also able to offer you help and advice on all aspects concerning your accident, including ongoing counselling, treatment and rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation

The purpose of rehabilitation is to help restore an injured person to a lifestyle that is as productive and as independent as possible through the use of medical help. This includes any ongoing pain, functional equipment or adaptations to your home to accommodate your changing needs, and vocational intervention, like skills training to help regain confidence allowing you to get a job or continue in the job you have.

As Members of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), we follow the APIL Best Practice Guide on Rehabilitation; we work with you, the insurer, NHS specialists and other rehabilitation service providers to decide on the most appropriate additional or alternative rehabilitation to suit you and your case.

We can consider whether early intervention, rehabilitation or medical treatment may improve your present and/or long-term well being; consulting with you, your family, and your GP to address any need for rehabilitation at the earliest possible stage and throughout your case. For example, if you suffered a severe arm injury, we can help arrange and organise adaptations to your home and car to help you to adjust to a more restricted life and to try to give you back some of your independence. This could involve arranging supports in the bathroom, to allow you to get in and out of the bath, a walk in wet room, to enable you to wash efficiently, banisters on staircases to aid mobility and adaptation of your existing car, or provision of one that has automatic transmission and is able to be controlled fully with just one working arm. These could help you get on with your life by being independent and safe.

We take into account whether you have an immediate need for aids, adaptations or adjustments to employment, enabling you to remain either in your existing job or in a suitable alternative job.

Rehabilitation can put your life back on track, letting you move on at no cost to yourself or your family.
